The CWPA announced the Scholar Athlete teams for the 2015 Collegiate Club season on Wednesday, February 17th. The three teams are Outstanding (Cumulative GPA of 3.71-4.0), Superior (3.41-3.70), and Excellent (3.20-3.40). A grand total of 19 Eagles were named to all three. Three players were named to the Outstanding Team: Senior Alex Ogura and Sophomores Ryan Corl and Trevor Prince. Ogura plans to graduate this May with majors in Finance and Information Systems and a minor in Classical Studies. While at Boston College, he has dedicated all four years to the Water Polo team, and is currently the President of the Investment Banking, Sales, & Trading Club. Corl is a member of the Carroll School of Management Honors Program and plans to graduate with majors in Accounting and Business Analytics and a minor in History. Prince is currently the Treasurer for the team, and plans to graduate with majors in Finance and Marketing and a minor in Math. At the team banquet in January, the team elected juniors Sean Fisher (left) and Nick McSweeney (right) as the captains for the 2016 season. Fisher was the treasurer and McSweeney the secretary for this past season, both vital roles for the operation and success of the team. Together, they scored 31 goals and made 13 assists in the Eagles' 11 games. Sophomore Trevor Prince was also appointed to succeed Fisher as treasurer. The Eagles also voted on the annual team given awards. Dan Kelly '16 was named the Most Valuable Player. He led the team in ejections drawn with nine, had 16 goals, and 13 assists. Colin Derdeyn '19 was awarded Rookie of the Year and led the team in steals with 13, scored 15 goals himself and assisted 13 others. The Most Improved award was given to Scott Carlson '17 who scored 9 times, had 9 assists, and made 6 steals. Bennett Cooper '16 received the Clifford/Gannon Inspiration Player Award, an award given to the player who most motivates and unites the team. Finally, Doug Gorman '17 received the Ernst Character Award, which is awarded to the player who most embodies the spirit of the team.
